Key Features

  • High chemical and corrosion resistance across broad pH range
  • Designed to ASTM C582 / ISO 14692 chemical equipment standards
  • Low water absorption (≤0.2%) for barrier integrity
  • Available in isophthalic and BPA-fumarate grades
  • High HDT (85-100°C) for elevated temperature chemical service

Chemical and Corrosion-Resistant UPR is a highly cross-linked isophthalic or bisphenol-fumarate based unsaturated polyester resin specifically engineered for FRP vessels, pipes, and linings in chemical processing environments. The resin provides exceptional resistance to a wide spectrum of corrosive media including dilute mineral acids, organic acids, alkaline solutions, solvents, and oxidizing chemicals at elevated temperatures.

Bisphenol A fumarate variants achieve the highest chemical resistance, with resistance to 25% sulfuric acid at 60°C, 50% sodium hydroxide, chlorinated solvents, and many aggressive organic chemicals. The isophthalic variant offers good cost-performance balance for moderate chemical service. Both grades are characterized by high cross-link density (low acid value, high fumarate/maleate ratio) that minimizes chemical permeation into the laminate matrix.

Viscosity at 25°C is 300-600 mPa·s, suitable for hand lay-up, filament winding, and RTM. The resin is formulated to ASTM C582 and ISO 14692 standards for FRP chemical process equipment. Key applications include chemical storage tanks, process vessels, scrubber towers, pipe linings, and secondary containment structures.

FAQ

The choice depends on the chemical environment: Isophthalic grade handles dilute acids (<10% H2SO4, <10% HCl), organic acids, mild alkalis, and water at up to 60°C. For concentrated acids (>10%), strong oxidizers, chlorinated solvents, or continuous temperatures above 60°C, specify the BPA fumarate grade. For highly aggressive services (fuming acids, concentrated NaOH at >50°C), vinyl ester (ver-chemical-resistant) or filament-wound vinyl ester pipe should be evaluated instead.
