Chemical Resistant Vinyl Ester Resin is a premium bisphenol A vinyl ester formulated specifically for maximum chemical resistance performance across the widest possible range of corrosive media encountered in chemical processing, water treatment, and petrochemical facilities. The resin is produced with highly purified BPA diglycidyl ether of optimized molecular weight and strictly controlled methacrylic acid esterification to minimize unreacted species that could become pathways for chemical ingress.

Key chemical resistances: 98% sulfuric acid (ambient), 35% hydrochloric acid (ambient), 50% sodium hydroxide (ambient to 50°C), 30% hydrogen peroxide (ambient), most organic acids (acetic, formic, citric) to 60°C, and a wide range of organic solvents including chlorinated solvents (short-term). Full chemical resistance tables at operating temperatures are available.

Viscosity at 25°C is 350-600 mPa·s, HDT after post-cure at 80°C/2h is 110-130°C. This resin is specified per ASTM C582 and ISO 10272 for corrosion-resistant FRP construction in chemical process industry applications. It is the standard choice for chemical storage tanks, process vessel linings, chemical plant FRP pipe and duct systems, and acid scrubbers.

FAQ

Chemical resistant VER outperforms corrosion-resistant UPR (BPA fumarate type) in several areas: (1) Resistance to concentrated acids (>25% H2SO4) — VER is excellent, BPA fumarate UPR is only moderate. (2) Resistance to organic solvents and chlorinated hydrocarbons — VER is significantly better. (3) Long-term immersion in oxidizing chemicals — VER retains tensile properties much longer. For mild acids and dilute alkalis at ambient temperature, BPA fumarate UPR may be adequate at lower cost.
