Key Features

  • High bond strength to concrete (>3 MPa, exceeds cohesive failure)
  • Moisture-tolerant cure — applies on damp concrete (8-10% moisture)
  • EN 1504-4, EN 1504-5, ACI 503R certified
  • Low temperature cure grades (5°C minimum) for winter construction
  • Multiple viscosity grades (injectable, priming, paste) for different applications

Construction and Civil Engineering Epoxy System is a two-part epoxy resin/hardener system designed for the demanding requirements of civil infrastructure applications including structural concrete repair, FRP strengthening of bridges and buildings, concrete crack injection, anchor bolt grouting, and structural bonding of precast concrete elements. The system combines high bond strength to concrete (>3 MPa pull-off, exceeding concrete cohesive failure), moisture tolerance for application on damp substrates, and durability under sustained structural loading.

The resin component is based on BPA epoxy (EEW 184-194) formulated with reactive diluents for application viscosity control. The hardener is a modified cycloaliphatic amine or Mannich base amine with moisture-tolerant cure chemistry, enabling application on concrete surfaces with up to 8-10% moisture content without adhesion impairment. Pot life at 20°C is 30-90 minutes depending on grade (injection/primer/thickened bonding paste versions available).

The system meets EN 1504-4 (structural bonding), EN 1504-5 (crack injection), and ACI 503R (adhesive bonding of concrete) requirements. Applications include column wrapping FRP system primer and saturant, bridge deck delamination repair, structural anchor installation per EN 1992 (Eurocode 2) and ACI 318, seismic FRP jacketing primer, and machine base grouting for precision alignment.

FAQ

Standard BPA epoxy with cycloaliphatic amine hardener has limited adhesion to wet concrete due to water competing with epoxy functional groups for surface adsorption sites. Moisture-tolerant epoxy systems use Mannich base amines or polyamide/polyamidoamine hardeners with surfactant-like chemical groups that displace water from the concrete surface and create chemical bonds in the presence of moisture. These systems tolerate up to 8-10% concrete equilibrium moisture content (SSD — saturated surface-dry condition). Above this level (running water or ponded water), application is not permitted. Substrate preparation by wire brushing and compressed air blow-off is still required to remove loose surface contamination and standing water even for moisture-tolerant systems.
