Key Features

  • Water-based formula — low VOC for workplace compliance
  • 5–15 releases per application for production efficiency
  • No transfer to parts — paintable and bondable surfaces
  • Compatible with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy
  • Fluoropolymer technology for low surface energy and easy release

This water-based semi-permanent release agent is a general purpose formulation suitable for open-mold FRP composite production using polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resin systems. Applied to the mold surface, it forms a thin, durable release film that enables multiple consecutive releases (5–15 parts per application depending on part geometry and resin system) without re-coating between cycles. The water-based formula is low in VOC compared to solvent-based alternatives, supporting workplace health and regulatory compliance. Applied by wipe-on/buff-off or spray technique. Minimum 3–4 coats are required for a new or stripped mold to build up an effective release layer. Drying time between coats: 5–10 minutes at ambient temperature. The product contains fluoropolymer components for low surface energy and easy release. Compatible with gelcoat-surfaced molds and directly with resin surfaces. Does not transfer to parts — parts are paintable and bondable without cleaning. Shelf life 24 months.

FAQ

A new mold requires a build-up of 3–4 coats minimum, with each coat applied, allowed to dry (5–10 min), and buffed off before applying the next. Some release agent manufacturers recommend up to 6–8 coats for the initial mold preparation. The additional coats ensure full surface coverage and establish the semi-permanent film. After initial build-up, 1–2 refresh coats between production runs maintain the release film.
