Semi-Permanent Release Agent (Water-Based, RTM)

In StockSample available

Key Features

  • Formulated for closed mold RTM injection pressure (up to 6 bar)
  • Stable at mold temperatures up to 80°C
  • 8–20 releases per application for production RTM tooling
  • Low outgassing during heated mold cycles
  • No transfer to molded parts — direct paintable/bondable

This water-based semi-permanent release agent is specifically formulated for closed mold RTM (resin transfer molding), SCRIMP, light RTM, and compression molding processes where both mold halves must be coated and the release agent must withstand the elevated injection pressures (up to 6 bar) and temperatures (up to 80°C) used in these processes. The formulation provides 8–20 releases per application cycle on production RTM molds and is compatible with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy injection resins. The product exhibits low outgassing during the heated mold cycle, preventing VOC vapors from contaminating the injection resin. Application is by wipe-on/buff-off on both mold halves. Minimum 4–5 coats for new RTM tooling. Dry time between coats 5–8 minutes. The release film is stable under injection pressures and does not transfer to molded parts, allowing direct painting or bonding of demolded parts.

FAQ

RTM release agents must withstand higher pressures (injection), elevated mold temperatures (heated cure), and multiple injection cycles without removal. Open mold releases are formulated for ambient temperature and gentle demolding. RTM grades have higher thermal stability, better injection pressure resistance, and often higher fluoropolymer loading for durability. Using open mold release in RTM will result in rapid release film removal and short release count.
