  • Suitable for elevated temperature (thermal) cure systems
  • Cost-effective raw material for large-scale paste manufacture

Benzoyl Peroxide Powder at 98% purity is the highest-concentration form of BPO available for industrial use. This grade is primarily used in applications that require precise dosing of a high-activity peroxide where diluent-free formulations are needed, such as the manufacture of BPO paste, body fillers, putties, and certain specialized polymer processing operations. At 98% purity, it is classified as a flammable solid and requires strict handling procedures — dry BPO can detonate under confinement with heat or shock. For most composite applications, the safer 50% paste or 75% wetted granule grades are preferred. However, in industrial compounding and paste manufacture, the powder grade is cost-effective as a raw material. BPO decomposes at temperatures above 70°C to generate benzoyloxy and phenyl radicals, enabling thermal cure of polyester, acrylic, and rubber-based systems at elevated temperatures. It is also used as a bleaching agent and flour improver in non-composite industries. Dosage in polyester composites when compounding paste is typically 2–4% on total formulation weight.

FAQ

Dry BPO powder at 98% purity is a flammable solid classified as an organic peroxide Type D/E. It can ignite from friction, heat, or static, and may detonate if confined. BPO paste at 50% disperses BPO in a plasticizer that acts as a phlegmatizer, reducing sensitivity to shock and heat. For composite fabrication, always use the paste or granule form unless compounding is specifically required.
