Fast 5-Minute Epoxy Amine Hardener is a highly reactive, specially formulated aliphatic amine-based hardener designed to provide gel times of 4–6 minutes and handling strength within 20–30 minutes at 25°C when mixed with standard BPA epoxy resins. This product targets rapid repair, assembly jig bonding, and fast-cycle composite patch applications where conventional cure times are impractical. The formulation combines high-reactivity polyamines with tertiary amine accelerators to achieve extreme speed without sacrificing adequate mixing window (typically 2–3 minutes after mixing). The resulting cured system provides sufficient structural strength for immediate handling and light loading, with full mechanical properties developing over 24 hours. Exotherm management is critical — only small batches (5–20g) should be mixed at one time to avoid thermal degradation of the resin and potential fire risk from the high exotherm. Cured properties include good adhesion to metals, glass, composites, and concrete, with moderate chemical resistance. Not recommended for structural laminates, large castings, or applications requiring UV stability or high Tg — those applications require standard or cycloaliphatic hardeners.

FAQ

The primary risk is exotherm. Fast-cure epoxy systems generate heat rapidly upon mixing. In batches above 20–30g, the exotherm can cause the resin to smoke, blister, or even ignite if confined in a deep container. Always mix on a flat, open surface or in shallow containers. Keep batch size below 20g per mix unless the specific product documentation permits larger batches. Ventilate the work area.
