PU Foam Adhesive (Core-to-Skin Bonding)

In StockSample available

Key Features

  • Expanding foam fills surface irregularities between core and skin
  • Only light clamping pressure (0.01–0.03 MPa) required
  • Cohesive failure in foam — bond strength exceeds foam strength
  • Room temperature cure in 30–60 min fixture
  • Compatible with PU, PIR, EPS, XPS foam cores

This two-component polyurethane foam adhesive is designed specifically for bonding rigid foam insulation cores (PU, PIR, EPS, XPS) to FRP face skins, metal, or wood in composite sandwich panel production. When mixed, the adhesive generates a controlled, low-expansion foam that fills irregular surface gaps between core and face skin while providing structural adhesion. The expansion coefficient is 2–5x, allowing the foam to fill surface roughness and small gaps (up to 5 mm) under light clamping pressure (0.01–0.03 MPa). Bond strength in flatwise tensile exceeds 0.3 MPa (exceeds PU foam core strength, so failure is cohesive in foam, not adhesive). Cure at room temperature in 30–60 minutes with full structural development in 2–4 hours. The product is used in refrigerated panel production, building panels, marine decking, and industrial insulated wall and floor systems.

FAQ

Apply the mixed adhesive to one substrate surface (typically the core face) in a bead or grid pattern immediately after mixing. The foam will begin to expand within 30 seconds. Place the second substrate (face skin) over the core, apply clamping pressure (0.01–0.03 MPa) immediately to control foam expansion, and maintain pressure for 30–60 minutes. The foam expands to fill surface gaps under the controlled clamp pressure, then gels and cures.
