Release Agent Gel Paste (High Build)

In StockSample available

Key Features

  • Thixotropic gel consistency — no sagging on vertical or inverted mold surfaces
  • High-build film fills surface texture and microporosity
  • Thicker deposit per coat than conventional paste or liquid wax
  • 3–5 releases per application on textured and rough mold surfaces
  • Suitable for spatula or cloth application

This high-build gel paste release agent is formulated for mold surfaces with texture, porosity, or micro-surface roughness where standard liquid or paste wax cannot build a thick enough release film to fill the surface profile. The thixotropic gel consistency allows controlled application on vertical and inverted mold surfaces without sagging or dripping. The gel deposits a thicker wax film per coat compared to conventional paste or liquid wax, filling surface texture and microporosity more efficiently. Suitable for textured decorative molds, rough-surface molds producing non-cosmetic industrial parts, and molds with seam lines or repair patches where local porosity is higher. Compatible with polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy laminating resins at ambient cure temperatures. Apply 2–3 coats to establish the release film, allow each coat to haze, and buff to a smooth film. Provides 3–5 releases per application. Not suitable for high-temperature cure applications above 60°C.

FAQ

Gel paste is applied by spatula (for textured surfaces) or by cloth in a thick, circular application. Because of the thixotropic consistency, it does not spread as easily as liquid or paste wax and requires more working effort to push the gel into surface texture features. Apply firmly to ensure gel is worked into all textured recesses, then allow to haze (5–8 min) and buff with a cloth. The buffing step removes excess gel from surface peaks, leaving gel-filled recesses — this is the release film.
