Key Features

  • Boron-free chemistry — 3× lower acid loss than E-glass
  • REACH-compliant glass melt (no boron fume)
  • Same mechanical strength as E-glass at matched tex
  • Multi-resin sizing — epoxy / UPR / VE
  • Qualified for offshore wind structural layers and chemical FRP

ECR-glass Direct Roving 2400 tex is a boron-free, low-alkali continuous glass fiber roving engineered for structural service in corrosive environments where conventional E-glass is unacceptable. The ECR (E-glass Corrosion Resistant) chemistry eliminates B₂O₃ and reduces alkali content to suppress acid-attack on the glass network, delivering acid loss ≤6% in 96 h immersion in 10% H₂SO₄ at 96°C — roughly a 3× improvement over standard E-glass (~20%).

Physical properties match E-glass at the same tex: 17 μm filament diameter, single-filament tensile ≥3400 MPa, moisture ≤0.1%, tex CV ≤3%. The silane sizing is epoxy/UPR/VE compatible and tuned for filament winding and infusion of structural wind blades and chemical-resistant FRP. The boron-free chemistry also eliminates boron fume during glass melting, supporting EU REACH compliance for offshore wind supply chains. Linear density 2400 tex (±5%) targets wind blade spar cap and structural FRP tank winding where load-bearing service in chemically aggressive media is required.

FAQ

Switch to ECR when the FRP part will see (a) acidic chemical service — H₂SO₄, HCl, organic acids, or acid scrubber duty above ambient temperature; (b) offshore or marine structural service with chloride exposure on load-bearing laminate; or (c) any application specifying ASTM D578 ECR or buyer specs referencing OCV Advantex / Jushi 386 / NEG T-glass. For benign service (yacht hull, decorative FRP, indoor structural), E-glass remains the cost-effective choice. ECR typically carries a 15–25% price premium over E-glass and the chemistry difference does not affect dry mechanical strength.
