E-glass Direct Roving 1200 tex (Pultrusion-sized)

In StockSample available

Key Features

  • Fast wet-out (<5 s) for high-glass-fraction pultrusion
  • Tex CV ≤3% — uniform profile cross-section
  • Heat-resistant sizing — no decomposition at 130–180°C die cure
  • Compatible with UPR, VE, PU, and epoxy pultrusion systems
  • Low fuzz at high line speed — reduces die scoring and downtime

E-glass Direct Roving 1200 tex (pultrusion-sized) is a single-end continuous glass fiber roving with a low-viscosity sizing formulated specifically for fast wet-out in pultrusion resin baths. At 1200 tex (g/km) with filament diameter 13–17 μm, the roving runs through pultrusion dies at line speeds of 0.5–1.5 m/min without dry spots or interlaminar voids in the cured profile. Tex CV ≤3% delivers uniform fiber volume fraction across the profile cross-section.

The pultrusion-grade sizing has lower film thickness than general-purpose silane sizings, so the resin bath wet-out time drops to under 5 seconds even for high-glass-fraction (65–75% by weight) pultrusion designs. The sizing is compatible with thermosetting pultrusion systems — unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester, polyurethane, and epoxy — and is engineered to resist heat decomposition during the die cure at 130–180°C. Moisture content is held to ≤0.1% to prevent steam-void defects under die pressure.

FAQ

Pultrusion pulls dry roving through a resin bath in 2–8 seconds — far less wet-out time than infusion (minutes) or filament winding (10–30 s in bath). General-purpose sizings designed for winding form a thicker film that slows resin penetration into the filament bundle, causing dry spots and inter-laminar voids in the pultruded profile. Pultrusion-specific sizings use lower film thickness and a sizing chemistry tuned for the resin system, dropping wet-out time below 5 seconds and enabling 65–75% glass fractions without defects.
