This two-component polyurethane structural adhesive is formulated from an MDI-based isocyanate and a polyol hardener to provide a tough, flexible-to-semi-rigid bond for FRP composite assemblies, transportation vehicles, and general industrial bonding. PU adhesives excel in applications requiring outstanding peel strength, impact resistance, and flexibility across wide temperature ranges. T-peel strength exceeds 6 kN/m. Tensile shear strength ≥10 MPa on FRP. Elongation of the cured adhesive is 50–150%, allowing it to accommodate thermal movement, vibration, and differential deflection in service. Mix ratio is 1:1 by volume. Open time at 23°C is 20–30 minutes with full cure in 2–8 hours at room temperature. The adhesive bonds well to GRP, SMC, thermoplastic composites, aluminum, and many plastics. Primer recommended for polyolefin substrates (PE, PP). Service temperature -40°C to +90°C.

FAQ

PU adhesives provide higher elongation (50–150% vs 5–10% for MMA) and higher T-peel strength, making them better for joints that experience peel forces, vibration, or large differential movement. MMA adhesives provide higher tensile shear strength and cure faster. PU is preferred where flexibility and peel are the design requirements; MMA is preferred where high shear strength and fast assembly are needed.
