Low-Viscosity Infusion Epoxy for Carbon Fiber Drone Frames
Key Features
- Ultra-low mixed viscosity (200–500 mPa·s) enables complete CF wet-out in VARI and RTM without vacuum assistance above 0.8 bar
- 90–120 min pot life supports large multi-piece airframe infusions without gelling mid-process
- Tg 120–140°C (post-cured) provides thermal stability above drone motor and ESC heat zones
- Low exotherm profile — safe for thick monolithic CF sections without heat spike cracking
- Excellent CF adhesion — ILSS 55–65 MPa with T300 standard carbon fabric
- 2K kit format with 100:30 weight ratio simplifies field mixing and reduces waste
A two-component low-viscosity epoxy resin system engineered specifically for vacuum-assisted resin infusion (VARI) and resin transfer molding (RTM) of carbon fiber drone frames. The ultra-low mixed viscosity of 200–500 mPa·s at 25°C ensures rapid, complete fiber wet-out through multi-layer CF lay-ups without dry spots, critical for weight-sensitive UAV structural parts.
The system offers a generous pot life of 90–120 minutes at 25°C, supporting large-format infusion of multi-piece airframe assemblies without mid-process gelling. Cure is initiated at room temperature and can be post-cured at 60–80°C to achieve the target glass transition temperature (Tg) of 120–140°C, providing thermal headroom above motor and electronics heat dissipation zones.
Cured laminates exhibit a flexural strength exceeding 600 MPa and interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of 55–65 MPa in combination with standard T300 carbon fabric, meeting structural demands of commercial and industrial drone frames. The low exotherm profile prevents heat spike damage in thick monolithic sections. Supplied as a 2K kit; mix ratio 100:30 by weight.

FAQ
For drone arm tubes with typical inner diameters of 14–25 mm, wall thickness of 1.5–3.0 mm (4–8 plies of 200 g/m² carbon twill) is readily achievable using this resin in a mandrel-wound or bladder-molded configuration. The 200–500 mPa·s viscosity allows complete wet-out through up to 12-ply stacks under standard VARI conditions (0.9–0.95 bar vacuum). Thinner walls below 1.5 mm are possible but require careful resin flow path design to prevent race-tracking.
