This new mold tooling preparation kit contains all products required for the complete preparation of a new composite mold from bare cured laminate to production-ready tooling with a full semi-permanent release system. The kit contains: (1) Mold sealer to fill surface microporosity; (2) Semi-permanent fluoropolymer release agent for production release film; (3) Application cloths and buffing pads. The kit is designed for composite fabricators setting up new molds and needing a complete, compatible system without sourcing multiple products. The included mold sealer and release agent are formulated to be chemically compatible — the sealer provides the ideal surface for the release agent to form a durable, high-release-count film. The kit covers approximately 3–5 square meters of mold surface at the recommended application thickness and coat count. Detailed step-by-step instructions are included for each stage of mold preparation. Compatible with epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester, and gelcoat mold surfaces.

FAQ

For a new gelcoated mold, allow approximately 4–6 hours for the complete preparation: 2–3 coats of mold sealer (10–15 min dry time each, plus application time) followed by 4–6 coats of semi-permanent release (5–10 min dry time each). For a 1–2 m² mold, the full process takes 3–5 hours including drying. Larger molds take proportionally longer. The mold is ready for the first test part after the final release coat has fully dried (minimum 30 minutes after the last coat).
