Semi-Permanent Release for Carbon Fiber Parts

In StockSample available

Key Features

  • Advanced fluoropolymer chemistry for clean CFRP demolding without surface damage
  • Contact angle >90° for very low surface energy
  • Suitable up to 180°C for prepreg autoclave processes
  • Compatible with composite and metal molds
  • No transfer — CFRP parts bondable with structural adhesives after demolding

This semi-permanent release agent is specifically developed for demolding carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) parts from composite molds, including prepreg autoclave parts, RTM carbon parts, and infused carbon laminates. Carbon fiber composites have inherently higher surface energy and adhesion tendency compared to glass fiber composites, making them more challenging to demold without surface damage. This release agent uses an advanced fluoropolymer chemistry that provides very low surface energy (contact angle >90°) on the mold, enabling clean, damage-free release of high-performance CFRP parts. Suitable for temperatures up to 180°C. Compatible with aluminum, Invar, steel, and composite molds. Applied by wipe-on/buff-off. Minimum 5–6 coats for first application on carbon part molds. 12–25 releases per application. No transfer to CFRP parts — surfaces are bondable with structural adhesives after demolding.

FAQ

Carbon fiber surfaces have higher surface energy than glass fiber due to the nature of the carbon surface chemistry. This results in stronger adhesion at the resin-fiber-mold interface. Additionally, CFRP parts are often thin and stiff, requiring precise demolding force direction to avoid delamination or damage. The semi-permanent release film reduces the interface adhesion to acceptable levels for damage-free demolding.
