Fast-Cure Gelcoat (30-min demold)

In StockSample available

Key Features

  • Gel in 10–18 min at 20°C — enables 30-min demold cycles
  • Elevated cobalt + amine co-promoter for fast, complete cure
  • High reactivity resin base for consistent rapid cycle performance
  • Compatible with standard polyester and vinyl ester laminates
  • Ideal for small parts and high-throughput production

This fast-cure orthophthalic gelcoat is specially formulated for high-throughput production environments where short cycle times are critical. With an elevated cobalt and amine co-promoter system and a high-reactivity resin base, it is designed to gel in 10–18 minutes at 20°C with standard 1.5% MEKP, allowing total demold of small to medium parts within 30 minutes of gelcoat application at ambient temperatures. The product is pre-accelerated to a high level and should not require additional promoter addition in normal use. It is available in white, black, and as a clear base. Barcol hardness after the fast cycle is 38–44 — adequate for production use and subsequent laminate compatibility. Compatible with polyester and vinyl ester laminates. Best suited for small parts, bathroom accessories, decorative components, and FRP products where rapid throughput is prioritized over maximum mechanical properties. Shelf life is 4–5 months at 18–22°C due to the high accelerator level — store cool and use within shelf life.

FAQ

This product is already highly promoted. Adding excess MEKP above 2% will not proportionally reduce gel time and may cause heat cracking (runaway exotherm) in thicker sections. For faster cures, ensure workshop temperature is above 20°C and consider using 2% MEKP maximum. Do not add additional cobalt or amine promoter to this product.
