PA6-GF30 Glass-Filled Nylon for Drone Motor Mounts

A 30% short glass fiber-reinforced polyamide 6 (PA6-GF30) compound optimized for injection-molded drone motor mounts, arm clamps, and propeller adapters.

Key Features

  • Tensile strength 180 MPa and flexural modulus 9,000 MPa provide motor shaft alignment rigidity under vibration
  • HDT 250°C at 1.82 MPa — no thermal creep even adjacent to high-power brushless motors
  • Compatible with overmolded stainless inserts and brass heat-set inserts for screw retention
  • Excellent chemical resistance to lubricating greases, fuels, and dilute agricultural sprays
  • Low mold shrinkage 0.4–0.7% in flow direction for tight-tolerance motor mount dimensions
  • Black grade with 0.3% carbon black UV stabilizer for long-term outdoor exposure

FAQ

Polyamide 6 is hygroscopic and absorbs 2.5–3.5% moisture at ambient conditions (50% RH, 23°C). During injection molding at 260–290°C, this moisture flashes to steam and causes splay marks, silver streaks, bubbles, and degraded molecular weight (hydrolysis). Drying at 80°C for 4–6 hours in a dehumidifying dryer (dew point ≤ -30°C) reduces moisture to <0.2% — the threshold below which these defects are avoided. Oven drying in a tray at 80°C for 6–8 hours is a backup option but less reliable. For drone motor mounts requiring tight tolerance and surface finish, proper pre-drying is non-negotiable.
